REALOGIS settles Euziel on Duisburg's Mercatorinsel
- Online company rents around 29,000 m² of usable space and 7,000 m² of open space
Düsseldorf / Duisburg, April 17, 2024 - The logistics property on Mercatorinsel in Duisburg Ruhrort has a new tenant. Following advice and brokerage by Realogis - Germany's leading consultancy for industrial and logistics real estate and commercial properties - the online retailer Euziel has signed a long-term lease for a total of almost 29,000 m² of high-quality usable space and 7,000 m² of generous open space. The company sells products in the furniture, home office, outdoor & garden, storage, make-up and jewellery and pet accessories segments under the umbrella brand "Songmics Home".
Duisburger Hafen AG (Duisport) is the lessor of the property, which has trimodal connections and is located in the immediate vicinity of existing container handling facilities. It completed the property with 25,600 m² of modern logistics space as well as 1,570 m² of office space and 1,430 m² of mezzanine space in 2018 on an approximately 48,000 m² industrial site.
According to Realogis, Euziel International GmbH opted for the property primarily due to its premium location. From mid-2024, Euziel will use the property with a height of approx. 10.60 m UKB for the storage, picking and repackaging of various products for consumers. For this purpose, 21 ramp gates with dock levelers as well as nine ground-level gates and a disposal gate are available. There is also a 600 m² hazardous goods warehouse in the outdoor area.
"We are delighted to be leasing the existing property on Mercatorinsel on a long-term basis to a customer with whom we already have a trusting working relationship at another location in the Port of Duisburg. Euziel will not only make intensive use of the hall, but also the adjacent terminals in Duisburg-Ruhrort and Meiderich," says duisport CEO Markus Bangen.
The optimal traffic location between the important traffic hubs "Duisburg-Nord" junction (A42/A59), "Kaiserberg" junction (A40/A3) and the "Kamp-Lintfort" junction (A57/A42) means that the surrounding metropolitan areas of Düsseldorf, Wuppertal, the entire Ruhr region and the Netherlands can be reached quickly.
"The Duisburg Logport is a very important hub for our goods," explains Yi Kong, Managing Director of Euziel International GmbH. "The lease agreement gives us the opportunity to establish ourselves in the world's largest inland port in order to optimize our flow of goods."

The online retailer is thus expanding its contingent of managed space in Duisburg to a total of just under 57,000 m². In January 2024, the company concluded a long-term contract for 28,500 m² of space in Duisburg Rheinhausen, also on the advice of Realogis.
